NYFW: Ralph Lauren S/S 2013
I have to admit upon attending the Ralph Lauren S/S 2013 runway show I felt as though I had joined a part of the fashion elite as I found myself immersed in a room with some of the biggest names and talents in fashion… This idea was only furthered once the collection premiered. Lauren’s mature and elegant take on western-inspired fashion was evident throughout the first looks in the show with large bow details, ponchos and shawls, large ruffled shoulder detailing and layers of beaded colorful jewelry. The color palette included red, turquoise, purple and creme. The usual Ralph Lauren flare soon became present as the collection slowly transitioned into more form-fitting and less layered looks as evidenced by solid colored evening gowns coupled with matching structured hats. This collection was made for those far and beyond and it’s quite evident that Ralph Lauren knows how to thematically make the unconventional so incredibly chic.

Ralph Lauren never fails to remind me of our family’s roots and vision - in dress, in decor, in attitude, in lifestyle. More paricularly, he reminds me of my parents - sarah whitty and g. holland. They.Are.Classics. In beauty, style, etiquette and attitude. Born and raised in preppy Grosse Point, MI - both are children of 2 separate sets of style icons. The clean prep + a little native american boho spirit = our ancestors. This vision has been passed along for generations before us and is currently what we are living and carrying on…in fashion, in homes, in decor, in etiquette. in humble spirit. in comfort. in natural beauty. In family. In life. So Thanks Ralphy - for your constant inspiration, loyal roots and amazing vision of the American family. -the Hollands :)
